Horror comedies are either hit or miss. They either are great comic entertainment or just forgettable drivel that you forget about the day after watching them.
Eli Craig’s Tucker And Dale Vs Evil is one of the good ones. It’s a twist on the genre where the bad guys are actual good and the good guys the villains. Cleverly Written by Eli Craig and Morgan Jurgenson, who take the old cliche’ of college kids who go camping and end up getting picked off one by one by a psycho and twists it so the college kids are actually the villains. They begin tormenting a couple of rednecks who just bought their “vacation home” and are there to fix it up.
One of the reason this really works is due solely to casting. Tucker and Dale, played by Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine, are a couple of great loveable characters that you won’t soon forget.
The story is well told through some cool effects and first time feature director Craig’s superb camera setups and direction.
This is a great film, filled with heart, laughs, and fun. If your looking to be entertained this film certainly does the job and well.
