The trees are changing color and the weather is starting to cool, but Halloween is right around the corner…and Blood Hunters is having its North American premiere in the month of October. With three screenings scheduled this month, the film is fresh off a successful and well-received world premiere at Horror Channel Frightfest in London.
Directed by Tricia Lee and starring Lara Gilchrist, Benjamin Arthur, Torri Higginson, Julian Richings, Mark Taylor and Peter Blankenstein, the film debuted in the US at the Boston Sci-Fi Festival’s Terrorthon. The Boston Science Fiction Film Festival and Marathon (“Boston SciFi”) is an 11-day cinematic event held at the historic Somerville Theatre. It is the oldest genre fest in the USA and one of the oldest in the world. Every year the fest celebrates a selection of horror films at Terrorthon in October and this year, featured the US premiere of Blood Hunters.
The film is a character-driven genre film about a single mother who wakes up in a medical facility to find that everyone is dead and she’s nine months pregnant.
On October 20, 2016, Blood Hunters will be featured at a private charity red carpet screening hosted by GTAN (The Golden Triangle Angel Network). Several members of the angel group invested in the film and are excited to see themselves debut as dead bodies on the big screen! The proceeds from the screening will be going towards the Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation. There will also be a Canadian Blood Services mobile blood unit on site to test attendees’ blood type and scheduling appointments for them to donate blood.
At the end of the month, the inaugural Requiem FearFest in Montreal will be bringing Blood Hunters to its first Canadian public audience. Not only a film festival, this convention provides a venue for fans and creators alike to celebrate all things horror.
