CRAZY BITCHES (2014) Review: Horror Is Like Porn…

Thank goodness the movie is better than the poster art!

There are two genres of film where you can really tell what gender is behind the camera. Horror movies and porn. Think about it; it’s totally true.

CRAZY BITCHES, written and directed by Jane Clark, is a refreshing spin on the slasher genre. The story follows a group of girls who were friends in college and are reuniting at a secluded house in the mountains to catch up. But someone starts knocking them off one by one. Is it the horny property owner, or is it indeed one of their own?

What makes this movie incredibly fun is the cast and how they interact with one another. One minute there’s lesbian love going on, the next, two of them are fighting, the next, they are all laughing and having drinks. It’s exactly how a group of girls like this would be (well in my male mind anyway). Amongst the group of girls is BJ (I’m assuming the character was named this on purpose), a gay male, played by Andy Gala, who steals many scenes and is really fun to watch. One of my favorite scenes is when he slaps the shit out of one of the girls. He brings the male perspective in, but because of his sexual nature, doesn’t seem out of place with the rest of the cast.

The kill scenes are fun, dialogue rich and a surprise ending that I totally enjoyed. This being a horror/mystery the plot is well laid out not giving you to much information, and the characters you get sucked in watching, forgetting all about the killer running around.

Jane Clark did a superb job with the film and I can’t what to check out her other offerings. Pick this one up if you did great characters with your killing!
