Bad Politics Are No Match For A HOOKER WITH A ROCKET LAUNCHER

Hooker With A Rocket Launcher

I gotta tell ya folks, when a flick hits your desk called Hooker With A Rocket Launcher, you are compelled to give it some attention whether you want to or not.  Though I’m not the top guy to decry the merits of tongue-in-cheek horror, I think all of you out there know that I can appreciate some tomfoolery when it’s done well.

The entire film clocks in at just over two minutes, and is really a trailer for a film that Chris Greenaway and the crew at Chad Media hope to make.  Thus, rather than an entire short film, what you get is a pitch concept, designed to hook some interest in the hopes of generating some capital for the production of aforementioned feature — and in my case, it did its work.

Hooker promo6From the opening sequence, featuring Adrianne Winfield as Misty (the titular Hooker) getting ready for a night on the streets, the film elicits that wonderful 42nd Street vibe of gritty, grindhouse films of old. After she’s propositioned into service against what we learn to be a government-induced zombie apocalypse (to weed out welfare recipients, dontcha know?) by revolutionary Kyle (played by Danny Warren), we learn that not only is Misty pissed off about the undead killing her friends (and shortening her client list), she’s also more than handy with heavy weapons!

Of course, you’re not going to have Oscar-level performances in a concept short (although I have to say, I’ve seen worse acting in quite a few features over the years!), it’s certainly contextually appropriate, with both Winfield and Warren showing some delicious nuance with a wink and a nod to the audience. Hooker promo7 (1)The effects promise great things to come, and the overall idea is just ludicrous enough to be entertaining as hell should these filmmakers take it to the feature level.

I for one would unlimber my wallet to check this out if Greenaway and crew get it where they want to take it…though it’s not my typical “horror” type of film, the creativity behind it shows some real potential.

By the generosity of Chris Greenaway and Chad Media, we at the ‘Corpse are thrilled to share this short with you — so enjoy!

Oh, I almost forgot, I really dig horror movies; new ones, old ones, it matters not; I love 'em. Husband, father, veteran and scribbler. I like bacon as well. The Mouse abides 😉
